Akwasi Aidoo (Ghana) Akwasi Aidoo is the Executive Director of TrustAfrica, an African foundation that is dedicated to strengthening African initiatives for regional integration, peace and development. Akwasi serves on the boards and committees of several nonprofits, including Oxfam America, Global Fund for Community Foundations, Africa Grant-makers’ Affinity Group, and the international committee of the Council on Foundations. His current professional interest centers on the development of grant-making institutions in Africa.

MRS RATI FORBES (India) Rati is a graduate from the Bombay University in Psychology and Sociology. Rati has been Director at the Forbes Marshall Group of companies since 1992. She has been responsible for the group’s Human Relations and Welfare activities. She has been keenly involved in the community development projects of Kasarwadi, Morwadi and Bopkhel; all of which lie in the neighbourhood of the Forbes Marshall factories in Poona. She has initiated several programmes for under-priveleged women and children from these communities; focusing mainly on health, education and women’s empowerment. She also assists with the administration and running of the Shehernaz Medicare center; a 35 bedded hospital providing heavily subsidized medical care to the local community; this is located on the factory’s campus. In 2004, Forbes Marshall began a partnership with Dr Reddys Foundation in Hyderabad, working on a training program to ensure employment for youth from underprivileged backgrounds. This has resulted in almost 90% of the youth who attended the programs gaining employment. In order to spread the program further in Poona, this program will now be supported as a Pune city corporate consortium. |

Mr Marcos Kisil (Brazil) Dr. Kisil is a well-known expert in private social investment in Latin America having spent more than 15 years as Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Battle Creek, Michigan. He is currently President of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment, a leading institution in promoting philanthropy in Latin America – a member of Charity Aid Foundation International Network, and CEO of Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation, a family foundation created in 1965 focused in health, child development and environment. Besides, he is a professor at the University of São Paulo’s School of Public Health. He serves as Board member of several organizations including the Brazilian branch of the BirdLife International and Resource Alliance. He is a founder member of WINGS – Worldwide Initiative in Grantmaking Support. Dr. Kisil has a Medical Degree from the University of São Paulo and received a PhD in Public Administration from George Washington University (SGBA). He is a senior fellow of Synergos Institute and a member of the editorial board of the Alliance Magazine. |

Safi Rahman Khan (Bangladesh) Safi Khan is currently the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Freedom Foundation, a national grantmaking foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was engaged as the NGO Corporate Governance Advisor with an independent non-profit research centre, the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute. Safi was previously the Bangladesh Country Representative of Ashoka Innovators for the Public - an international citizen sector organization that provides support to social entrepreneurs. His first entry into non-profit sector was with the Programme for Research on Poverty Alleviation, Grameen Trust where he focused on developing appropriate technology related projects. Safi has taught courses on NGOs and Social Entrepreneurship at BRAC University, and consulted with the World Bank reviewing NGO Financial Management and Accountability issues. He is the founder and Trustee of Jamil-Sarwar Trust (an education trust), Treasurer of Nagorik Uddyog (a human rights and legal aid organisation) and Board Member of the Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium (APPC) based in Manila. Safi holds a BA and MBA degree. |
